All scanning/ previewing is done in the GlobalVision C8 scanner interface.

To launch the scanner interface and start scanning a master or sample file, click the Scanner Menu and either Scan Master or Scan Sample

To scan the Master or Sample: Click Scan in the scanner interface, at which point the image will load in the corresponding (Master or Sample) panel.

To preview the Master or Sample: Click Preview in the scanner interface and adjust the settings displayed as desired.

Scanning vs. previewing

Once the GlobalVision C8 scanner interface is launched, clicking either Preview or Scan will prompt the scanner lid to close automatically (if not already closed) and scan the cylindrical object that has been placed on the Support Bars. It is important to differentiate between those two options.

Clicking Preview in the GlobalVision C8 scanner interface prompts the scanner to scan the cylindrical object and display it in the same window. Previewing also allows the adjustment of settings on the fly and the creation of profiles for future use. The settings are divided into two groups: Standard and Advanced.

Clicking Scan closes the scanner interface and loads the Master or Sample directly in the corresponding panel.

Configuring your C8 scanner settings

GlobalVision C8 cylinder scanner settings are divided into two groups: Standard and Advanced. Standard options are accessible to all users, while only administrators and managers can alter advanced settings.

To expand either tab and see individual settings, simply click on the applicable title bar. To restore settings once they've been changed: Click Reset to defaults at the bottom of the GlobalVision C8 scanner interface.

The following sections break down the individual options of each group.

Standard options

Adjustments to standard options appear in real time if a preview has been scanned into the GlobalVision C8 scanner interface.

The standard options are as follows:

Brightness: The lightness of the color in the scan; Adjust by clicking the slider and moving it to the right or left or by using the UP and DOWN arrows on your keyboard.
Contrast: The separation between the darkest and brightest areas of the image; Adjust by clicking the slider and moving it to the right or left or by using the UP and DOWN arrows on your keyboard.
Gamma: The luminance; Higher values cause darker shadows while lower values make darker regions lighter. Adjust by clicking the slider and moving it to the right or left or by using the UP and DOWN arrows on your keyboard.
Invert Colors: Toggle it on to display a negative image.
Greyscale: Toggle it on to display the scanned image in a series of neutral colors, ranging from black to white.

Advanced options

Adjustments to advanced options only appear once a subsequent preview/ scan has been made.

The advanced options are as follows:

CCD X Offset: Higher values reduce glare on reflective or metallic materials and help with text on very-dark backgrounds.
Overlap: Scans additional diameter area (greater than 360 degrees). Measured in percentage.
Image Crop: The crop threshold of the scanned image. Measured in inches.
Start Offset: Compensates for the revolutions that occur before a scan begins so that the starting point is as indicated by the Laser Guide Line. Measured in inches.
Eject CCD: Used to eject the internal scanner to clean and for maintenance purposes.

Scan profiles

The Scan Profile tab lets standard users load pre-set configurations of settings tailored to scan in individual samples. Administrators or managers can access profiles, add new ones, and update or delete profiles that have previously been created. The tab can be accessed by simply clicking on its title bar.

To load a GlobalVision C8 profile: Select the desired profile from the Scan Profiledrop-down list. The settings will re-adjust in real time, based on the profile selected.
